Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Preparation: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
- Dry Ingredients: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream the Butter & Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer or by hand, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and well combined.
- Add Egg & Vanilla: Beat in the egg until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and mix until incorporated.
- Combine Dry & Wet Mixtures: Gradually blend in the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Stir in Chocolate & Nuts: With a spatula or wooden spoon, fold in the chocolate chips. If you’re using nuts, fold them in as well.
- Shape Cookies: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Ensure there’s enough space between each cookie as they will spread out slightly when baking.
- Bake: Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are lightly golden. The center should still be soft.
- Cool: Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes. Then transfer them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
